'The games we play in New Orleans and beyond'

Tailgating Bubbles Over

As with all tailgates, one has to go over the checklist to make sure the pre-game ritual goes off without a hitch - Hamburgers, Coolers, Grill, Veuve Clicquot, Hot dogs. Wait, what?

No, Saints fans –though you have already seen a few things this season that you don’t believe, this one is for real. Veuve Clicquot rolls into town Oct 4, for a tailgating party at Apres Lounge from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The party includes games, music, and – of course – that Champagne with the yellow label.

So, add a different spin to your tailgating schedule, and head down to the Apres Lounge (608 Fulton St.), in the warehouse district (just a 20 minute walk from the Superdome), for an afternoon of fun. I don’t know if there will be hot dogs, but I do know the drink of choice will be perfect.

The “Clicquot En Route” truck (adorned in the classic Veuve Clicquot yellow) has been on tour since early June, and has hit just about every corner of the country –from Cape Cod, Maine to Portland, Oregon. The Clicquot crew spent last weekend in Dallas, Texas and the Cowboys lost, and now they’re here, and the Saints are playing the Cowboys. Do I have to spell it out? This could be a great thing. Now put on your Black and Gold, and somebody hand me some bubbles.
