Diane Mouton of Fat Cat Flowers shares what’s trending in wedding florals this spring

The weather in New Orleans hasn’t exactly been predictable or continuous. One “winter” day it’s sunny and hot and the next is freezing and rainy. But, typically, we can count on springtime to bring nice warmer weather and beautiful flowers.

Wedding flowers are a lagniappe item that can bring together your entire theme or vibe. With a multitude of colors and types, couples have almost endless possibilities.

With that in mind, we asked Fat Cat Flowers owner (and self-proclaimed “flowerchild”) Diane Mouton what was trending this spring to get couples and their bridal parties ready for those spring weddings and events.

First, she shared that brides are continuing to adore “big fluffy garden flowers” like peonies (Kelly here: one of my favorites!), ranunculus, dahlias and garden roses. Next, Mouton noted that couples are – much to our joy and excitement – embracing this year’s Pantone 2019 Color of the Year: living coral. She notes that blush and white are still going strong in popularity, but the pop of coral is an easy addition to the traditional, popular blush and white.
“I am also seeing a spark of soft yellow, and I can't wait – yellow is underappreciated,” said Mouton. “I love a touch of sunshine yellow in a spring bouquet.”

Spring always brings beautiful florals to wedding events, but with the trends Mouton and her team are seeing, we are sure this spring is going to bring gorgeous florals arrangements and bouquets to weddings all around New Orleans.
