This week has been an eventful one for bridal stores.

Recently, Town & Country Bridal (1514 St. Charles Ave.) announced the Dec. 11 opening of its sister store Linen Jolie Bridal in Metairie.

At the time of this posting, Town & Country hasn’t yet responded to our questions about the new venture, but here is what we know so far:

Linen Jolie is the name of owner Mandy Schexnaydre Wienhusen’s daughter and the store will open in early December. An Instagram announcement on the Town & Country Bridal page, stated: “We’re opening a second store in Metairie! Introducing our sister store Linen Jolie Bridal! Linen Jolie Bridal will feature her own, unique designer line up and gowns — but the same quality and service you’ve come to know and love at Town & Country. Conveniently located in Metairie above Chatta Box Metairie at 4114 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Linen Jolie Bridal will open Dec. 11. Now accepting appointments. Learn more when you follow @linenjoliebridal! Town & Country + Linen Jolie Bridal serving champagne and bridal dreams! #lovelinenjolie.”

We’ll post more details after our interview with the Linen Jolie team.

David’s Bridal made big news this week when it was announced that the national bridal chain is filing for bankruptcy.

A report by the Associated Press stated, “David's Bridal is filing for bankruptcy protection but there is no danger for customers who have ordered dresses because operations continuing as normal while the wedding and prom retailer restructures.”

According to a CNBC reporter, the company is trying to wipe out more than $400 million in debt with the filing and agreement reached with its lender. The Pennsylvania-based company plans to be out of Chapter 11 by January and says it will continue to operate its 300 stores and online sales will continue unhindered.

“We are implementing our consensual restructuring plan from a position of strength and, with the support of our lenders, noteholders and equity holders, the plan will allow us to reduce our debt significantly while continuing to run our business as usual,” said CEO Scott Key said in a statement.

There are two David’s Bridal boutiques in the Greater New Orleans area located at 4630 Veterans Memorial Blvd. and 5915 Bluebonnet Blvd.
