The official blog of New Orleans Bride Magazine, offering a daily dose of all things weddings

Real Wedding: Carnes - Moore

Kelly Carnes and Ryan Moore had never been to New Orleans. But, when deciding on the perfect place to elope in April, they were drawn to the Crescent City.

“Neither of us had been there before,” said Carnes. “We knew it was a magical place, so we like[d] the idea of our wedding being the formative memory we'd have there. New Orleans will always be special to us now!”

The couple chose The Pharmacy Museum as their elopement location and when asked why the location was perfect for the couple, Carnes explained, “I worked at the Smithsonian for 11 years, so I love being in, and supporting Museums. The Pharmacy Museum was intimate, historical and fit our personalities, price point, logistical needs, and aesthetic. We knew we'd have a more eclectic, vintage look so it would make for the perfect photo backdrop.”

After the ceremony, the couple took the time to set the scene for quintessential New Orleans pictures all over the city from Muriel’s to Pirate’s Alley.

“Since it was just us, we got to do whatever we wanted after so we ran around to several spooky places to enjoy the evening,” said Carnes about her favorite part of the wedding. “Ending our night at a Vampire Speakeasy, where I tossed my bouquet off the balcony to some passersby on Bourbon Street.”
