1932-33 Squad
RE: September/October Issue – Great Louisiana Quiz
Enjoyed reading the “players in the picture” issue. On page 134, there is a picture of an SLI (Southwest Louisiana Institute, now known as the University of Louisiana-Lafayette) football team. This team was the 1932-33 squad, not 1923-24. My father-in-law Tom Bickham is fifth from left on the second line of the picture. The coach was T.C. Wibanks, and he brought most of his 1931 State Championship team from Homer, La., to SLI when he was hired.

Others in the picture are Gene Cella, who was from Brooklyn, N.Y.; Luther Perrin, who coached at Scott, La., high school; and Albertt Zock, who coached at Crowley, La., high school.
