Inspired by the legacy of iconic visual artist, Douglas Redd, who died in 2007, local cultural workers have sent out a call to artists in all disciplines to gather for the 6th Douglas Redd Cultural Summit on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Ashe' Cultural Arts Center
The Douglas Redd Cultural Summit will take place from 10AM to 3 PM at the Ashe' Cultural Arts Center. This all-day gathering of the New Orleans Cultural community will included panel discussions, networking, and organizing designed to develop work force development, capacity building, and cultural professional development. among artists and organizations on their events leading up to New Orleans' Tercentennial in 2013 This event will announce a 4 year effort (2014-2018) to organize the African-American New Orleans' Art & Culture community in ways that will make a powerful impact on New Orleans in 2018 and beyond!
Musicians, dancers, museum workers, visual artists, actors, Mardi Gras Indians, art gallery owners, writers, poets, social aid and pleasure clubs, night club owners, digital media developers, recording studios, photographers, cultural center directors, students and community activists are all invited.
