An Evening with Whitney Stewart - Asian Iconic Personalities

Jun 29, 2013

Join us for an intimate evening with renowned local author Whitney Stewart on June 29th, 2013. An adventurer by nature, Stewart has spent the last 20 years studying people and cultures around the globe. Her career has led her to explore the footsteps of some of the world's most famous - and infamous - personalities, including Buddha, the 14th Dalai Lama, Aung San Suu Kyi, Sir Edmund Hillary, Mao Zedong, and Deng Xiaopeng.

Share in Stewart's fascinating journeys across Asia, including: her trek through Nepal with Sir Edmund Hillary; discussing democracy in Burma with Aung San Suu Kyi; and researching the complicated legacies of Chinese leaders, Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaopeng. Learn more about Tulane University's work to bring the Dalai Lama to New Orleans, and find what His Holiness had to say about Stewart's book on Chairman Mao.

Cocktails and light refreshments will be served, and signed copies of the author's works will be available for purchase, including her newest book, Becoming Buddha.
