Countless luxuriant party goers swarmed to the Landmark hotel in the days pre-Katrina, where they enjoyed a lush tradition known as the Black-Tie, Lingerie, Toga Party. Outlandish attire was strictly enforced. Shortly after the Hurricane, the tradition saw several years of silence until it was resurrected in 2012.
February 28th (the Friday before Mardi Gras), marks the 3rd year of the renewed BLT Party, which has been revamped as the BLT Ball. Each year the performers have been a significant element for emanating the right energy. The impressive Groovy 7 (groovy7.com) have been signed to perform, with special appearances and dances from the parade dancers, the Organ Grinders (nolaorgangrinders.com).
The event will be sprinkled with an array of surprises, contests, music, and giveaways. The Ball is held now held at Southport Hall (200 Monticello Ave, New Orleans), where drink specials are provided for guests, and VIP drink/eat free. Both tickets are available on the BLT Ball website (BLTBall.com).
Doors open at 9pm and the party usually closes-out around 2am. Info and FAQ are available on the web and Facebook pages. Media passes available upon request
