Are we so different? Science tells us that humanity shares a common ancestry and that the differences we see among people are natural variations, results of migration, marriage and adaptation to different environments. How does this fit with the idea of race?
RACE: Are We So Different? is a major museum exhibition on human diversity through the perspective of history, science and everyday experience. It explains differences amon...g people. And it challenges how we see others around us – and how we see ourselves.
A project of the American Anthropological Association funded by the Ford Foundation and the National Science Foundation, RACE is presented in New Orleans by the Louisiana Civil Rights Museum. The exhibition has been on national tour since 2007.
Presented by the Louisiana Civil Rights Museum Advisory Board, Race is co-sponsored by the Louisiana State Museum, Louisiana Commission on Human Rights, Louisiana Museum Foundation, the Friends of the Cabildo, YWCA of New Orleans, the Urban League, and Fox 8 WVUE-TV.
