Else Pedersen is executive director of Bridge House, a substance-abuse treatment center of last resort that has served New Orleans for the last 52 years. Else describes how the center-- founded in 1957--has made such a huge difference in the lives of so many, and she explains how Bridge House works. In addition to its services, Bridge House is well known for its Camp Street thrift store where shoppers can find furniture, books,  assorted housewares, and other items.
