Jessica White is executive director of 504Ward, a nonprofit organization created to attract and keep people in their 20s and 30s in New Orleans. The concept is that this age group is New Orleans' future and by attracting fresh new thinkers, our city can create a receptive climate for growth. Jessica, a New Orleans native, believes many young people are attracted to New Orleans because in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, they see it as a modern-day frontier full of opportunities for energetic, dedicated innovators. If New Orleans wants to continue attracting people in their 20's, then they should be more willing to HIRE them. This is the hardest job market EVER, and most New Orleans businesses and organizations aren't hiring young people right now. You should write a story based on twenty-something-year-old's in New Orleans who recently graduated and are struggling to find their place and score a job that's in their field.
