Summer Lyrics Theatre at Tulane

Ian Carney played “Pal Joey.”

A musical theater performing organization based on the campus of Tulane University, Summer Lyric Theatre’s mission is to preserve one of America’s greatest art forms by producing the highest quality musical theater. The theater exists to support and nurture musicians, actors, singers, dancers and technical artists, including, most importantly, promising students, by bringing together resources from the university and the community.
A high standard of artistic excellence has become a hallmark of Summer Lyric Theatre and gives young talent the opportunity to work alongside professionals in a truly collaborative atmosphere. Each season the organization employs the talents of some 200 paid professionals and volunteers. During the 2008 summer season, audiences at Summer Lyric Theatre enjoyed: “Pal Joey,” the penultimate Rodgers & Hart collaboration; Tony Award-winning musical “Li’l Abner,” and a contemporary version of “Oklahoma!”  For information on Summer Lyric Theatre’s 2009 season, check the Web site or call the box office.
