New Orleanians helped practice “safety first” at the Crimestoppers Carnivale on October 9 at Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World. The local organization helps keep the city safe by providing a 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week anonymous tip hotline for criminal activity.

Crimestoppers’ premier fundraiser lasted from 7 to 11 p.m. and included food from more than 30 local restaurants as well as live and silent auctions to support its hotline and other crime prevention endeavors.

Honorary chairs at the event included New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Ronald Serpas, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand and NOPD 8th District Commander Ed Hosli.

The Crimestoppers Patron Party, sponsored by Galatoire’s, took place on Thursday, October 7, at Gallier Hall and included honorary co-chairs New Orleans Councilwoman Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson, New Orleans Councilman Arnie Fielkow, Jefferson Councilman John F. Young and Jefferson Parish Councilman Thomas J. Capella.
