On the Cover

Special thanks to the staff and security at the Willow Streetcar Barn for their undying patience and cooperation as well as to Patrice Bell Mercadel and everyone at the Regional Transit Authority.

As St. Charles Avenue continues to celebrate its 15th anniversary, we are proud to present you with this year’s Activists of the Year.

We hope that you will join us in honoring Mimi Robinson Bowen, Leah Chase, Dr. Norman Francis, Leslie R. Jacobs, Diana Monroe Lewis, Dr. E. Ralph Lupin, James J. Reiss Jr. and Suzanne Walther Rusovich, who have also graciously posed for our cover.

Each year St. Charles Avenue magazine honors a select group of people whom we believe have given of their time, their energies, their specialties – themselves – to our city. For our 15th anniversary year, we chose the cream of the crop – and they accepted. Each of these eight persons has found a niche for the main thrust of their charitable efforts that fits them like a glove. We are proud to profile them, their work and their accomplishments in this issue, and we hope that their stories will inspire you as much as they have us.
