Positively Portraiture

Poydras Home on Magazine Street has sought to provide a fulfilling environment for its residents since 1817. On November 7, the Portraits of Poydras Patron Party was positively perfect! It brought cheer and Charmaine to the picturesque grounds on the eve of the 14th annual Poydras Home Art Show. The weekend is the sole fundraiser of the year for the nonprofit organization. Margaret Orr was in attendance as honorary chair, which was appropriate as anyone, young or old, who watches her forecast knows she adores fabulous “weather pictures.”

Accompanying the musical and visual art were those of the culinary sort donated from Galatoire’s, Ralph’s on the Park, Savvy Gourmet and Creole Creamery, to name but a few. The food and drink fueled the fun as a silent auction took place under the stars.

The Portraits of Poydras Patron Party was a fantastic event to kick-off a weekend of living merrily and soaking up art in all its forms. The free and open-to-the-public Art Show on Saturday and Sunday boasted 2,500 pieces by local artists in a variety of mediums. There was a juried art exhibition in Poydras Home’s main building and tents filled with affordable finds on the grounds.
