Toqueville for Taylor
The United Way celebrates Phyllis Taylor and a record-breaking year.

United Way awarded Phyllis M. Taylor with The Alexis de Tocqueville Award on November 12, during a lovely evening at the historic Roosevelt New Orleans. There was dinner, dancing and a silent auction orchestrated by Mistress of Ceremonies Angela Hill. The 700 guests celebrated Taylor as well as the $22.6 million raised during 2008-’09, a record-breaking number which exceeding their goal.
The esteemed award is given to an exceptional philanthropic leader in our community. Taylor is an attorney and energy company CEO who guides the foundation, supporter of the Taylor Plan/TOPS as president and chairwoman. She has served on numerous boards including her recent inclusions to the Education Commission of the States and the Smithsonian National Board. She has worked with United Way, Success By 6 and aided in the organization’s Women’s Leadership Council.
