Locals enjoyed a cocktail party at the home of Vincent Saia Jr. and Glynn Stephens on November 4, but the evening was not just about the drinks. The event was “Cocktails for KID smART,” a fundraiser for the local program that “reforms pedagogy and curriculum in local public elementary schools through arts integration,” an initiative called Education Through Imagination.

The glamorous event featured cuisine by Joel Catering and Event Planning and work from the featured artist, George Dureau. Event chairs Winnie Brown, Laure Starring and Jennifer St. Paul, along with patron chairs Mary Turner and Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, helped make the event a success.

KID smART supporters who donated $750 or more received a signed and numbered limited edition print of George Dureau’s Woman With Snake, printed on 100 percent cotton, acid-free paper.

KID smART is led by Executive Director Echo Olander, who was also named one of New Orleans Magazine’s Top Female Achievers this year.
