On April 15, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser braved a comedy roast for him at Delgado’s annual Roast of the Town. Roasters included Tony Abadie, director of events and catering at Hilton Riverside; Orleans Parish President Jackie Clarkson; Greg Reggio, owner of Zea Rotisserie and Grill; Plaquemines Parish Assessor Bobby Gravolet; and Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle.

The event featured cocktails and wine provided by Crescent Crown Distributing and Republic National Distributing, a silent and live auction featuring a autographed Saints football from the 2010 Super Bowl championship team, a Fort Meyers weekend and golf package and dinner provided by Café Giovanni, Best Steak House and Andrea’s Restaurant, to name a few. WWL-TV anchor Eric Paulsen served as master of ceremonies and the Delgado Jazz Ensemble provided the music.

Some of the faces in attendants included Delgado Community College Chancellor Dr. Ron Wright and his wife Peggy; Delgado Foundation Board Chairman Ashton Ryan; Vice-Chairman Leon L. Giorgio Jr. and guest Melanie Cannatella; and Secretary Charles Southall III with wife Lila. Funds from the event were dedicated to the college’s culinary and hospitality programs and the Maritime academy.
