Friends of City Park hosted its annual fundraiser, Lark in the Park “Swing ‘Fore’ City Park,” on March 18. The event raised funds for a new miniature golf course, which will be across from Storyland and the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park.

A champagne reception, complete with hors d’oeuvres by Patti Constantin and entertainment by Orleans Original Jazz Ensemble, started the patron party in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. An hour later, the gala began at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters. Guests enjoyed cuisine from 35 local restaurants and a performance by Harvey Jesus and Fire.

Joey M. Brown, Leila S. Gamard and Mary H. Schmidt chaired a fantastic night that contributed greatly to the creation of a miniature golf course. The event honored Mayor Mitch Landrieu and his wife Cheryl. Friends of City Park is a nonprofit organization that strives to preserve and increase City Park’s value as a public space of natural beauty, culture, recreation and education.
