All You Need is Love

Love in the Garden celebrates five years.

This year’s Love in the Garden event drew nearly 1,000 faithful patrons of both The New Orleans Museum of Art and its artistic honorees. On the early evening of September 25, supporters gathered at the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, first for the patron party at 7 p.m., followed by the garden party.

This year’s honored artists are: Maurice Alvarado, Raine Bedsole, Willie Birch, Thomas Bruno, Viorel Hodre, Martin Peyton, Arthur Silverman, Frances Stigart Steg, Allison Stewart and Tim Trampolin.

Guests dined on a menu created by some of the city’s premiere culinary destinations: escargot from The Grill Room; seared tuna from Ralph’s on the Park; boudin balls from Boucherie; pulled pork over cheese grits from Squeal Bar-B-Q;

rice pudding from MiLa; and more from 20 other restaurants. The well-heeled crowd sipped on Bombay Sapphire Gin Collins, the event’s specialty drink for the evening. The Patron Party featured the sounds of Joe Simon’s Jazz, while the main event featured Deacon John. Board members in attendance included Edgar Chase, Tim Francis, Sydney Besthoff, Diane Walmsley and NOMA Board of Trustees President Steve Hansel. All proceeds generated from the spectacular event benefit the museum.
