Every Disney princess and pirate will have their wishes come true when the New Orleans Museum of Art premiers its “Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from Walt Disney Studio” at the 44th annual Odyssey Ball on Friday, November 13.

The opulent gala will feature music by Jeremy Davenport and a special appearance by Grammy Award-winner Terrance Simien, haute cuisine by Palate New Orleans and, as always, their storied live and silent auctions.

Museum Director John Bullard, co-chair Charlotte Herbert, NOMA Volunteer Committee chair Diane Walmsley and co-chair Lori Frischertz pose in front of a rarely seen cell from the 1947 “Mickey and the Beanstalk,” included in Fun and Fancy, courtesy of Walt Disney Animation Research Library, Disney Enterprises, Inc.

The art exhibit will be open from November 15-March 14, 2010 and will feature more than 600 original, rarely seen artworks from such Disney classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, along with artwork from Walt Disney Animation Studio’s new musical comedy, The Princess and the Frog, which premiers the return of hand-drawn animation and features Disney’s first African American princess (who lives in New Orleans during the Jazz Age!).

For more information concerning tickets to the Odyssey Ball call 658-4121. Tickets to “Dreams Come True” are available at the NOMA admission desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
