At the end of March, we shared a real wedding between Hannah Lampo and Samuel Brewton. The two said, “I Do,” on Dec. 18, 2021. When asking the couple for more information about their wedding, we asked if they would share their couple and proposal story with us, too.
The duo shared that they first met in grammar school at St. Catherine of Siena School in Metairie. (Kelly here: that’s where I went to grammar school, too, so the story was a little more special to me when I read it.)
Here is the full story as told by the couple:
While they went to grammar school together for five years, they were never friends. Hannah was a bit of a nerd and Sam was the popular class clown. Sam’s mom still doesn’t let Hannah live it down that she did not vote for Sam to win class president (which he won without her vote anyway). But that all changed the summer before their sophomore year in high school. Hannah and Sam would frequent the country club as guests of their friends Lizzie and Will. After that summer of late-night swims, fried green beans and movie marathons, Sam and Hannah started dating at the age of 15 (and coincidentally so did Lizzie and Will, who are also now married [The Clapps]). After growing up together and sharing nearly every life milestone, Sam and Hannah made their forever official this past year. In fact, they even celebrated their 10-year dating anniversary on Sept. 25, 2021 surrounded by their loved ones at their couple’s shower.
Sam’s proposal timing was impeccable – especially considering he proposed December 5, 2020 mid-COVID-19. After being cooped up for a year, Sam planned a trip to Las Vegas with both his and Hannah’s families and friends. The first night of the trip, he had planned a Ferris wheel ride on the High Roller followed by dinner at Tao. It was seemingly planned to perfection. That is until Hannah took a quick shower before getting ready and had an allergic reaction to the hotel soap. We’re still not sure how Sam managed to keep so calm when your soon-to-be fiancé has a swollen face the color of a tomato 30 minutes before the proposal. Somehow, he managed to calm Hannah down (and the reaction) and still pulled off a perfect proposal at the top of the High Roller, with a celebration of all their friends and family, who were waiting for them at the bottom (minus Hannah’s sister who was not yet 21 – she will never let Sam live it down that she missed the proposal).
