10 Things To Do in New Orleans This Weekend

Thursday, Feb. 6
Out of all the Oscar categories, being able to catch the films nominated in the shorts categories is the most difficult. The New Orleans Film Society is here to help — it screens the documentary short films nominated for 2014 Academy Awards at the Prytania. Info here.

Cinderella Battistella, a local take on the fairy tale set in 1950s Marigny, opens at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts. Info here.

The Chorus Girl Project is a fun group that pays homage to MGM movie-musicals with dance performances, and they're hosting a fundraiser for their appearance in the Krewe of Pygmalion. Info here.

The same group behind last year's burlesque take on Super Mario Brothers tackles another entry in the nerd canon with I Ain't Afraid of No Boob, a tribute to Ghostbusters. Info here.

Check out Moviehouse NOLA, a multimedia exhibit about New Orleans' bygone neighborhood theaters, before it closes the next day. The New Orleans Film Society and Pelican Bomb host a happy hour at the exhibit (212 Loyola Ave.) tonight. Info here.

The 610 Stompers hosts its 80s-themed Sweet 610 Debutante Ball tonight featuring Johnny Sketch & the Long Duk Dongs, an 80s cover band. It benefits the Autism Society of Greater New Orleans. Info here.

Saturday, Feb. 8

Sunday, Feb. 9
WYES hosts a veritable sweet tooth's paradise with its annual Chocolate Sunday, a massive tasting event of local chocolatiers. There's also a silent auction and a fashion show. Info here.

Started by Atlanta comedian Joe Pettis, the Underwear Comedy Party features stand-ups performing in their skivvies. Info here.
