10 Years Stronger

Though the outcome of the New Orleans Saints’ first home game may not have gone as planned for Saints fans, Mercedes-Benz was determined to celebrate and focus on players, plays and local heroes who have made New Orleans what it is today in light of Hurricane Katrina.

The Superdome has seen struggle and triumph throughout the years following Hurricane Katrina. Ten years later, despite minor home game losses, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the people of New Orleans and the New Orleans Saints are a strong driving force in the community. “10 Years Stronger,” a program sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, was developed to honor and to recognize the memorable plays and people that have got us to this point.

Until Sept. 17, Saints fans had the opportunity to relive 10 outstanding plays and vote for their favorite New Orleans Saints moment from the past decade. On Sept. 20, the appreciation of these wonderful plays began with a large celebration – which included a highlight of Steve Gleason’s blocked punt in the Saints first home game following Katrina, as well as the honoring of four local community heroes. During an on-field presentation with Saints legends Deuce McAllister and Steve Gleason, the honorees were surprised and gifted with all-new Mercedes-Bens CLA250 and a Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger Van for Pastor Fred Luter, Jr. to assist him in the transportation needs of his church community.

Despite the gloomy ending of the season opener against the Buccaneers, Mercedes and New Orleans’ hometown heroes filled the stadium with remembrance and joy as the community celebrated its success over the past 10 years. New Orleans is undoubtedly 10 Years Stronger.
