Hogs For The Cause New Team Registration Opens Oct. 1

NEW ORLEANS (press release)Hogs for the Cause has announced team registration is now open for the 12th annual charity barbeque cook-off and music festival set for March 27 & 28, 2020 at the UNO Lakefront Arena Festival Grounds. “Returning teams are offered first right of refusal, but we always have space for new teams to get involved,” said Rene Louapre, COO & co-founder of Hogs for the Cause. “We have 10 spots available on a first-come, first serve basis and we want you to join us next spring.”

Teams may register for the regular or piglet division and choose competition categories during the registration progress.  “New this past year, the Piglet division is a great way to get your hooves dirty before competing in the big leagues,” said Becker Hall, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer for Hogs. “Piglets compete against other piglets, giving them a taste of what Hogs is all about without the fierce competition.” The Piglet division teams receive a 10’ x 10’ plot of land, 5 team wristbands, and the ability to submit one BBQ dish for judging, as well as participation in fundraising. Regular division teams may choose a 10’ x 10’, 20’ x 20’ or 40’ x 40’ plot of land. These teams must compete in 3 of 4 categories to qualify for grand champion. The categories include whole hog, ribs, pork butt/shoulder, porkpourri (anything pork), or sauce (which does not count towards grand champion).

Hogs for the Cause 2020 sponsors include: Children’s Hospital New Orleans (LCMC Health), Bulleit and Don Julio.
