NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Beginning Sunday, Sept. 26, Kimpton Hotel Fontenot launched a new weekend brunch at Peacock Room, lovingly referred to as “Birds of a Feather, Brunch Together.” Taking place every Sunday in the heart of the hotel’s elegant and soulful space, brunch at Peacock Room will feature a unique menu that includes many specialty dishes and cocktails that are not available during the week.

The menu for “Birds of a Feather, Brunch Together” has been executed by Executive Chef Chris Lusk and is a spin on his shareable interpretations of regional classics. Newly launched brunch dishes include the Peacock Tower filled with deviled eggs, lobster toast, s&p shrimp, pimento cheese and crostini ($35); Salt, Pepper & Vinegar Shrimp with nuoc jam pepper jelly ($15); Huevos Rancheros featuring chorizo cured pork belly and mole verde; a Chicken Biscuit with American cheese and jalapeno cane syrup ($14); and the C&A Benedict with crab-avocado toast, poached egg and gochujang choron ($26).

Guests can also choose from a contemporary selection of exceptional, hard-to-come-by spirits and evocative craft cocktails. The beverage menu for brunch includes new cocktails like the Squawk of Shame with tart passion fruit, citrus, subtle basil herbaceousness, a touch of spritzy wine flavor and texture ($12); Siren of the Tropics, a slightly creamy cocktail containing house-made banana rum, nutty roasted pecans and bananas, and aromas of cinnamon and molasses ($11); and Washoku Mary with vodka and a super savory and spicy, tomato and soy umami garnished with lemon, mint, garlic scape pickled lotus root, celery and a cured ramen egg ($14). Restaurant and Bar General Manager Jessica Retif has also created a shareable bourbon punch, High Tea Punch for 2, to be served in a beautiful tea set ($24, serves 2) which will change weekly.

In keeping with the theme of the cocktail lounge’s reputation as an eccentric and energetic hangout since opening its doors in May 2021, “Birds of a Feather, Brunch Together” will follow the already popular Friday series called “Flash Your Feathers,” where guests are encouraged to wear their flashiest of flashy head pieces to Peacock Room to receive a complimentary glass of bubbles in return. Brunch patrons are also invited to dawn their best tea party attire if they please, all to be enjoyed in a brilliant atmosphere filled with ornate patterns and rich textures that features a bohemian mix of art, brass hardware, crystal fixtures, velvet upholstery and, naturally, life-sized peacocks and a bird cage.
