Come holiday season in New Orleans, what’s better than Celebration in the Oaks? Nothing, except the Celebration in the Oaks Preview Party! On November 21, 2008 before the turkey was even out of the oven, it was time to greet Mr. Bingle and friends at City Park.
A fundraiser for the New Orleans Botanical Gardens, the 22nd annual Preview Party was brought to merrymakers by The Azby Fund. All were ready to appreciate the beauty of City Park transformed. The poinsettia tree was just as tall as it seemed years ago and the lights, trimmings and trappings were twice as nice. Lots of lively musical performances kept people on their feet. Libations were flowing plentifully and the food was as spectacular as it always is that time of the year. Santa Claus never says no to a cookie!
Enjoying the festivities were Celebration Director Julie LaCour and Botanical Director Paul Soniat alongside City Park organizers, donors and holiday enthusiasts. Sponsors for the celebration were WWL and Superior Energy. The Children’s Preview Party took place that weekend as well and treated mini-partiers to their version of a VIP event: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, plus running around to the endless attractions.
