With decades of higher-education and foundation experience across the nation, President and CEO of LSU Health Foundation Matthew Altier takes charge of channeling investments and donations towards the continuation of the foundation’s mission. An independent, non-profit corporation, the LSU Health Foundation is dedicated to supporting the ever-evolving needs of the LSU Health Sciences Center by way of business resources, philanthropic donations, public and private partnerships, programs, auxiliary businesses, real estate, and other cutting-edge initiatives.

As a pillar in community outreach and research development, the LSU Health Foundation directs resources and opportunities back into the region through a myriad of support services. In the works, as one example of many projects under way, is a Northshore retirement community from which revenue will be invested directly into cancer research.

“It will be an LSU affiliate community geared towards LSU alumni,” says Matthew Altier. “As the state’s first university affiliated retirement community, it will provide geriatric training tracks and real-world experience for students while serving as a retirement resource to the 240,000 LSU alumni.”
