Michael Richmond has decades of experience in university fundraising—but what many people don’t realize is that in his role as Director of Annual Giving at the LSU Health Foundation, Michael and his team work to advance not just one university but six individual schools and eight centers of excellence.
Established 45 years ago, the LSU Health Foundation supports the educational and community mission of the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans and all six of its schools: Medicine, Nursing, Graduate Studies, Dentistry, Allied Health Professions, and Public Health. Gifts through the LSU Health Foundation go directly to each school’s prioritized needs, from student scholarships and state-of-the-art classrooms to research studies, renowned faculty, and bold initiatives.
“Our partnership with the LSU Health Sciences Center is collaborative. We work together to identify where resources are needed, and then the Foundation works to provide that support,” says Richmond. “What an amazing opportunity it is to aid and empower the faculty, students, staff, and clinicians who are changing the world,” he says.
The Foundation just successfully wrapped up its inaugural Annual Day of Giving, wherein community members were invited to “Give Gold Geaux Purple!” Next year’s Day of Giving will take place in March 2024.
