If you’ve been following “Let Them Eat Cake” for any amount of time over the years, you’ll know that one of our favorite times of the year is when Pantone Institute comes out with their color of the year.
The Pantone Institute is the authority on all things color and style when it comes to home décor, fashion and all-around color trends. This year, when we first heard the name for the 2024 Pantone color of the year, we will admit we were a little skeptical. “Peach Fuzz” is not exactly something you think of with thoughts of elegance and style. But after seeing the breakdown of the hue, and the reasoning behind the pick, we’re on board for all things “peach fuzz.”
One of the main points that convinced us of the hue’s worthiness of the title was in Pantone’s description of the color.
“Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration,” said the Pantone Institute in its announcement of the color. “A warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others or for enjoying a moment of stillness and the feeling of sanctuary this creates.”
When it comes to weddings, the color peach has a somewhat bad reputation – see the classic 2005 Jennifer Lopez/Jane Fonda comedy “Monster-in-Law” – but “communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration” sounds just about right for your “I Dos.” A wedding is, after all, the bringing together of two people and two families, while surrounded by the community of people that love you.
We also believe it’s high time the color peach takes back its reputation in the wedding world. Two areas peach will have its moment: florals and clothing.
For flowers, Destiny Pinson of Doris Ione says a few of her favorites to use now that look fabulous in peach are ranunculus and roses. For spring and summer she suggests peonies and carnations, which look great in – or with – a peach hue.
