NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Awards (NOETA) Gala, sponsored by Entergy and an initiative of the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Orleans Teacher Community, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans. This year’s gala will be sponsored by Entergy for the second year in a row.
The NOETA is bestowed on the Teacher of the Year from each New Orleans public school – representing the top 3% of educators in the city – and includes a $1,000 Classroom Excellence Grant. The NOETA marks these teachers’ immense commitment to their students and their profession. The NOETA Gala is an opportunity to honor these amazing educators, and to bring together civic, business, and education leaders to celebrate their achievements. Funds raised by the NOETA Gala are put directly into classrooms across New Orleans.
“At Entergy, we are invested in building a bright future for all our city’s children. New Orleans’ public school teachers are the most important of that – they are expanding students’ horizons, opening up opportunities, and preparing them for success long beyond graduation day. We are thrilled to honor some of our city’s very best teachers through the prestigious New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Award and gala. Last year’s gala was phenomenal, and we look forward to seeing our educators and friends at this year’s event, too,” said Deanna Rodriguez, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans.
NSNO invites those in our community who share our passion for education to support the NOETA Gala through ticket and table purchases and sponsorship opportunities; more information can be found here. Your generosity will play a significant role in empowering teachers with resources and support that allows them to pour back into our students.
“New Orleans’ teachers are skilled, powerful, and devoted to their students. At NSNO, we provide resources, supports, and experiences that help them thrive in and outside of the classroom,” said Dana Peterson, CEO Of New Schools for New Orleans. “Together with our partners, we are proud to give the New Orleans Excellence in Teaching Award (NOETA) to the teacher of the year from every public school in the city and celebrate them at the annual NOETA Gala amongst our generous sponsors, local leaders, school leaders, and friends.”
NOETA is an initiative of the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Orleans Teacher Community, a partnership that paves a way to sustain and expand current events, programs, and resources for educators in the city.
“The Allstate Sugar Bowl is proud to continue its support of the NOETA Gala, and we’re honored to work with the College Football Playoff Foundation and New Schools for New Orleans to provide recognition for teaching excellence,” said Jeff Hundley, CEO of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. “ Furthermore, it’s imperative that we do everything we can to retain the best of the best in the teaching profession, because they’re educating young people who represent the future of our city.”
