Delicacies at Dominique’s
Dominique’s Restaurant at the Maison Dupuy Hotel is known for its soothing evening dining experience. Walter Bertot, who manages the restaurant, is joined by Chef Dominique Macquet who creates contemporary French cuisine in an elegant and contemporary atmosphere. Says Christine Sory, director of sales for the Maison Dupuy, “Candlelight and orchids adorn every table as calming music flows over our guests as they dine.” The restaurant overlooks Maison Dupuy’s private outdoor flowery courtyard, complete with a bubbling Italian fountain.

30˚90˚ Dining Features“Dominique’s kitchen is allowed the freedom to create unforgettable masterpieces,” says Sory, who names dishes such as Turks & Caicos Baby Conch Ceviche, Seared Key West Yellowtail Snapper wrapped in Banana Leaf and a dessert of Carmelized Pineapple Tatin with Crystallized Ginger Ice Cream. “Success has to be earned,” she continues. “After 10 years, Chef Dominique has earned his by constantly changing the menu and trying new things.”

This month, Dominique’s will be participating in the French Quarter Wine Festival with a variety of changing menus and dinner with wine pairings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (A vintner of each vineyard will present the wine as it’s served.) Chef Dominique is also celebrating the restaurant’s 10th anniversary by representing different countries in his cuisine each month.

Luxury dining in Kenner at Pellicano

When coming up with ideas for the restaurant, Pellicano, owner and general manager Jeff Domangue envisioned a definitive fine dining experience. He says he created the restaurant to offer Jefferson Parish diners a “truly luxurious and romantic venue offering the best of Contemporary American cuisine.”

Today, “every dish is prepared fresh by Executive Chef Chris Cody,” says Domangue.

“He scours local suppliers for the finest ingredients.” Some of the delicacies include Duck Confit Spring Rolls served with enoki mushrooms and a pomegranate reduction. And, “For the ultimate in rich taste, our Jumbo Lump Crabmeat wrapped in a crispy filo purse will satisfy those for whom flavor is the only consideration when choosing a restaurant,” Domangue says. The list of entrées is impressive and also includes a Caribbean Lobster as well as a rack of Axis Venison Chops. Then, there’s the dessert menu: “Our fresh baked Strawberry-Apple Strudel is the perfect end to a wonderful meal,” he says, adding that the restaurant also offers a variety of fresh made ice creams and sorbets with unusual yet exotic flavors such as Ginger-White Chocolate.

With Tuscan columns and exotic granite, Pellicano offers a plush interior that also features maple wood, oil paintings and “soft, warm lighting.” Adds Domangue, “Pellicano’s dining room offers the ultimate in intimate dining, whether for that romantic evening for two, a business dinner or a night out with friends and family.”

Singer Jimmy Buffett, who will be at Jazz Fest later this month, has a special place in his heart for New Orleans. His two-story restaurant, Margaritaville, offers – not surprisingly – a “very fun and festive atmosphere that attracts families, kids, teens and businesspeople,” says Tyra Wilson Brown, the director of sales and marketing for the restaurant. It’s “flip-flop casual,” she says, which gets diners in vacation mode.

The menu reflects the regions Buffett has visited; “We feature Gulf Coast classics,” says Brown, including Tex-Mex and Caribbean dishes, the famous “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” in addition to gator bites, red beans and rice, crawfish etoufee, fried seafood plates and more.

The atmosphere is especially pleasing to those who are “in need of a quick trip to the tropics.” Brown says that Margaritaville makes some “serious margaritas, daiquiris and tropical boat drinks. “Whether you’re sipping or slamming, Margaritaville has a luscious concoction that’s perfect to put you in the down-island state of mind.” (The bar also has actual tire swings for customers.)

Margaritaville is loyal to the locals. Says Brown, “We offer all locals a VIP card that gives them 20 percent off all food and beverage at the restaurant as well as 15 percent off retail purchases at the store,” she says.
