5 Creative Bachelorette Activities in New Orleans

Last week, we started a new series outlining outings and activities for the bachelorette party looking for something to do other than eat or drink – which is also always a good idea.

Our first installment included those for the active groups who like to add their own version of a “hot girl walk” into the trip. A few of our favorites included burlesque classes with Trixie Minx and The Break Room NOLA. Click here to read the full list.

This week, we’re getting in touch with our artsy side. Get your creative juices flowing with a few of our picks of some of New Orleans’ most inspiring group classes.

Local florist Destiny Pinson and her brand Doris Ione offer workshops and flower parties for groups either in the studio or on site where you’re staying. Classes range from holiday centerpieces to flower crowns and even bridal and bridesmaid bouquets. Pinson notes on her website that you can also share your own ideas with her and she will try to accommodate. More information and to book, visit dorisione.com/workshops.

Are you looking for a signature scent for your Big Day? Or maybe just one to remember the trip. Right in the heart of the Central Business District, groups can make their own perfume at Tijon. Choosing from either a 90-minute or 2-to-3-hour class, attendees can throw on a lab coat and blend at least three scents to take home. Each class also offers a bag of goodies from the company, as well as the ability to keep your scent on file to reorder perfumes, lotions, body oils and more from your signature scent. More information on the classes and to book can be found on the website here

For a little more in-depth and hands-on experience there’s NOLA Glass Works. For adult groups, NOLA Glass Works offers demonstrations in glassblowing, glass torch working and printmaking. There’s even an option to make your group experience a Wine + Design event. This option allows for guests to help create a wine glass, while also sampling wine and cheese pairings to create a complete experience. More information and the contact form for group classes can be found on the website here

Take friendship bracelets to a new level with The Bead Shop. The Magazine Street bead store, and custom jewelry and repair shop, offers group events both during business hours and after hours for a little more fun. During the day, up to six guests can create a beaded necklace with a charm or two bracelets with one charm; while after hours events can host up to 14 guests that choose between a beaded necklace with a charm or two bracelets with one charm or two pairs of earrings. Clear drinks and cold hors d’oeuvres are allowed for the after hours events, with approval from the shop. All information can be found on the shop’s website here

Top off a bachelorette party trip with a headdress making class from local artist Ellen Macomber. Macomber is known for her classes which culminate with flamboyant, eccentric headpieces perfect for the city’s various festivals and events, or a random Tuesday out walking the dog. Inquire about your own headdress party on the artist’s website here
