In celebration of New Orleans Magazine’s 50th anniversary, the publication presents its first-ever hardcover book. With beautiful photography and thoughtful words, the book honors 15 of the magazine’s favorite places throughout the city. No one knows New Orleans better than New Orleans Magazine.
You can also purchase your copy at the following locations: Garden District Books, Octavia Books, Barnes and Noble and
Mary’s Ace Hardware.
Essential New Orleans: 15 places we love is comprised of 15 essays, each on a different location that serves as a condensed introduction to a city that’s packed with music, entertainment, history, food and libations. It is edited by New Orlenas Magazine Managing Editor Morgan Packard Griffith with art direction by New Orleans Magazine Art Director Tiffani Reding Amedeo and a foreward by New Orleans Magazine Editor-in-Chief Errol Laborde.
Whether you’re taking the streetcar to the Saenger or having a Hurricane at Pat O’s, it’s the quirks and peculiarities of New Orleans that have always, and will always, continue to draw visitors and locals alike to this city.
Photographed by Marianna Massey, known for her images from the London, Sochi and Rio Olympic Games for Getty Images, as well as her work for clients worldwide including Sports Illustrated, Barneys New York and GQ Magazine, each essay is explored through her lens.
The goal of this book isn’t to give you the definitive history of each place. Instead, within its 111 pages, 15 authors share their emotional experiences of what makes a place special. First drinks, first dates, losses and loves, travels, triumphs and after-dinner drinks are just some of the stories that we share as a way of answering the question “Where should I go?”
