On October 22, the “wedding cake house” of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fayard Jr. was transformed into a glamorous pink soiree for the Ochsner Goes Pink gala. The St. Charles Avenue home, which blinked with pink lights for weeks before the event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, featured a pink dance floor, a tent of pink silk and a pink-lighted pool.

The event honored local philanthropists and St. Charles Avenue’s 2010 Activists of the Year Tom and Gayle Benson, and money raised at the gala benefitted the Tom & Gayle Benson Cancer Center, another of their generous contributions to the city.

The decadent evening, including “Mad Men” actor Bryan Batt as master of ceremonies, featured a seated dinner with wine pairings from Chef Matt Murphy of the Ritz-Carlton as well as music from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and Deacon John. Rita Benson LeBlanc and Lieselotte Tansey, benefactor of Ochsner’s Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center, served as honorary chairs for the soirée.
