When looking to hire someone for a product or service they can offer your wedding, it’s usually easier to make decisions when you’ve see the professional in action. This was the idea Callie Murray, wedding photographer and Founder/CEO of The Big Fake Wedding, had in 2008 when she realized most of her bridal business came from couples that met her at other weddings.
The Big Fake Wedding is an alternative option for couples looking for something other than a typical bridal show. The event is exactly what it seems, a big fake wedding. Each “wedding” includes a ceremony with a real married couple and a bridal party, dinner and drinks and topped off with a dance-party reception. The guests of the “wedding” are brides-and-grooms-to-be who get to experience all of the wedding vendors in action.
Last night’s “wedding” was held at The Chicory. The theme was a high tide, nautical motif with deep blue and green hues. Many of the tablescapes included aquatic animals and the six-tiered cake was displayed in an oyster shell.
The challenge the vendors were give was to create a space inspired by the ocean.
The Big Fake Wedding’s main goals are to support local wedding vendors and bring a couple something live and different. Their third dive into the New Orleans wedding market did just that. It was a lovely evening with great food and amazing work from all of the vendors involved.
Wedding Wire also supported The Big Fake Wedding New Orleans last night. Wedding Wire is a website and mobile app designed to bring couples a one-stop shop for their entire wedding planning needs. Their goal is to share local vendors with couples, provide a platform for connecting local vendors to each other and to grow a community of engaged couples that is connected and informed of all of the vendors at their disposal.
