On Feb. 17, the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Canal Street —the home of Rubensteins—became the heart of New Orleans fashion. Upon entering a swank soirée called “Styles with Heart,” guests received a card that encouraged them to identify a piece of clothing or an accessory that fit a description such as “trendy,” “classic,” or “sexy.” Local celebrity schmoozers—such as Jennifer Huntley of WWL-TV, Karen Sommer Shalett of the Times-Picayune and David Bernard of WWL-TV—were on hand to provide fashion tips. Guests who attended the free event received a 10 percent discount that night and 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds benefited the American Heart Association.
The Goldring Family Foundation and La Louisiane provided the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, respectively, while the lively entertainment for the evening was pianist Nelson Lunding. •
