Attendees at this black tie event, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fayard, Jr. on Saturday, March 6, were in for quite a treat. Everyone enjoyed music from the Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra as well as libations from Dickie Brennan and Company.

This year’s gala benefited the Catholic Cultural Heritage Center, one of many philanthropic efforts of the Junior League. Event chairs for the evening included Erin Alexander Bolles, Fionuala McGlinchey Monsted and Helen Read Smith.

The Junior League of New Orleans, 85 years old and comprised of 2,000 women, is the 11th largest League in the Association of Junior Leagues International, made up of 292 Junior Leagues. Having started with only 10 women, the JLNO has now been instrumental in more than 100 community projects and has contributed more than 4 million dollars and 1.5 million hours to projects such as the Louisiana Children’s Museum and Rebuilding Together. Every year the Junior League donates at least $500,000 to community programs and membership training in New Orleans
St. Charles Avenue magazine’s own Executive Editor Bev Church was honored as the Junior League’s Sustainer of the Year for 2009 and would liek to congratulate Jeanet Bean, this year’s Sustainer of the Year!
