In August, it was announced that local New Orleans artist Ashley Longshore – whose mixed-media pop art that New Orleanians love to love has gained huge attention nationally in the past two years – partnered with makeup giant Maybelline to create new designs for the brand’s Superstay Matte Liquid Lipstick.
We’ve seen the collection and it’s just what you would want and expect from Longshore. The six-lipstick line comes in all of the classic lip colors, plus a bright purple for good measure. Each has an original design from different types of lips and mouths to Wonder Woman and an array of stilettos.
In a press release about the collection, Longshore said:
Recreating my designs for the packaging of Maybelline New York’s SuperStay Matte Ink was an incredible opportunity to work with a new medium. My love of color is always what really makes my artwork ‘pop,’ and the Maybelline shades selected really emphasize this. I have always found synergies between makeup and art as tools to express myself, and I hope this collection empowers others to do the same.
