A Note From Bev

Everyone loves the Louisiana Children’s Museum Fundraiser “CHAIRish the Children” and this year the 10th annual Gala will be Saturday, August 23rd at 420 Julia St. Thanks so much to our cover models, Co-chairs Elizabeth LeBlanc, Melissa Scandaliato, Board President, Brian Quirk, Chef Brian Landry and Steve Hemperley, representing Capital One. You all know that the auction features whimsical, one-of-a-kind chairs, food, entertainment and more, so don’t miss it! The Patron Party is from 7-8 p.m., and the gala 8-11 p.m. For more information, call 586-0725, ext. 206.

With all of us on vacation, I know it’s hard to think about Back to School and sending off your little ones, but

definitely check out, “What’s Hot” to see what Baby Bump, Canine Culture, Itsy Bitsy Me, Little Laughter, Perlis and Judy at the Rink have for all of your adorable children when they head back this fall!

I just went into Scriptura and they have the best way to “beat the heat” with journaling and letter writing. After your vacations, it’s time to put all of those pictures in hand-bound Italian leather photo albums and journals from Scriptura’s new shipment! They have gone back to the basics with Crane engraved stationary and have New Orleans-themed invitations for parties and weddings. Visit them at 5423 Magazine St., 897-1555 and next to Lakeside Mall at 3301 Veterans Blvd., 219-1113.

Speaking of weddings, I just went to see Regina Keever, co-owner of Bayona, with Susan Spicer, and their 200 year-old Creole cottage and courtyard is an ideal choice for a smaller, more unique rehearsal dinner or reception. Many brides are exploring a different style of venue and Bayona can offer great food and paired wines that the happy couple can personally have a hand in designing, along with Spicer and the wine steward. Be sure to call Regina Keever at 525-4455 and she’ll help you plan every detail.

I am so proud of Bob Brown for receiving The Times-Picayune Loving Cup this year. He is such a positive role model and a great example of a New Orleanian making a difference!

Be sure to take advantage of all we have to offer and visit all of your favorite New Orleans venues this summer. Get your friends to come visit from out of town, volunteer and spend money in our shops and restaurants!
