A Note from Bev

The Idea Village is an amazing nonprofit organization and we’re proud to present them on our cover this month. Thanks to writer Sally Forman, photographer Margaret Beer, immediate past chairman of the Board of Directors Merritt Lane and chairman of the Board of Directors Mark Romig for appearing on our cover! Trust Your Crazy Ideas is not only basis for the Idea Village it’s also the title of their new book. To receive a limited-edition copy of the book, and an invitation to the book launch party, Fri., October 23, all you have to do is donate $500 to Idea Village. Visit www.ideavillage.org for more information about the book and about Idea Village.

I want to salute the Junior League on their 85th anniversary. They donated over $500,000 to our community this year and continue to make a difference in the fields of public education and historic preservation, while supporting Louisiana Children’s Museum programs, and so much more! Congratulations!

Thanks so much again to all of our committee who helped raise the $150,000 for one Make It Right House in the Lower 9th Ward to thank Brad Pitt for his support of our city! Thanks to George and Fran Villere, Nancy and Mike Marsiglia, Anne and King Milling, Madeleine and Rod West, Margo and Clancy Dubos and Johnny Church. Thanks to all of our donors who donated $1,000 to build a house for a deserving family in the Lower 9th. Brad Pitt and the Make It Right Foundation have raised over $30 million dollars to build environmentally state of the art houses here in New Orleans. Go see the project – it’s fabulous!

Now that we’re past Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is just around the corner, why not think about who’s left: our children and our pets! To that end, be sure to peruse our features on Children’s Chic and creating the best staycation for your furry friends.
