A Note from Bev

We are all so excited about the tremendous efforts taking place at City Park! The newest development is the new dog park, known as City Bark, which will be a fabulous addition. We want to thank our cover models: Margo DuBos with Mr. Bundles, Jackie Shreves with Dingo and Dr. Chris Fabacher with Wilhelm. Get ready as City Bark presents 101 Donations, Friday August 21, 7 to 11 p.m. at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters! There will be fabulous food and music – but it’s only for two-legged patrons. Send a donation even if you can’t attend the gala. Visit www.nolacitybark.org for more information.

The Just Say YAYA event was a great success thanks to Kay Kerrigan and her committee. There is still a chance for you to buy $20 raffle tickets for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind piece from famed artist Jana Napoli, the founder of YAYA. Please call 529-3306 for more information and to purchase tickets.

Speaking of art, you may have seen Karen Birdsall and Karen Leopold’s artful glasses at the Country Day fundraiser. They have a business called Kiss My Glass and create uniquely themed glasses for just about any occasion! They have created hand-painted glasses for wedding parties, themed ideas like streetcars and animals, and girl glasses complete with tiaras and boas at the base. They are happy to add rhinestones, silk flowers and much more to create the perfect glass for you. The wine and champagne glasses and acrylic wine glasses sell for just $12.50 each! Be sure to call them for the special touch at your next event, 837-7208.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift or children’s clothes or toys, there’s no better place than one of my favorites, Mignon for Children. They have had an iconic presence in New Orleans for 50 years and specialize in fine clothing – including their own designs – christening and wedding apparel and more! If you’re looking for unique gifts, toys, music and fabulous clothing, Mignon for Children is just the place.

This is our incredible wedding issue where we spotlight six New Orleans couples that have had beautiful weddings here in the city! You will know them all, and reading about their weddings will give you great flower and party ideas from the most chic couples in town.

Try to beat the heat and dine at our great restaurants; they need locals now because the tourist business is down, so go anywhere you wish and say thanks. Our restaurants are one of the main reasons why everyone loves our great city!
