Shared Housing of New Orleans is a preventative program that allows elderly or disabled individuals to remain in their homes and not go to a nursing home, because they’re paired with a homeseeker who provides light housekeeping and companionship. The homeowner provides room and board. Police checks are done on all applicants to the program, and careful screenings and interviews are done by the program coordinator and registered nurses. This program desperately needs funding, and if you have any questions or have a referral, please call 896-2575 or email Marion Strauss at strauss@sharedhousingofneworleans.org.

Restaurant R’evolution, a new restaurant from acclaimed chefs John Folse and Rick Tramonto, will open in the Royal Sonesta Hotel at 777 Bienville St. on Monday, June 4! The menu will reflect a melding of chefs Folse and Tramonto’s culinary styles and the diverse historic and cultural influences of Louisiana. You will be thrilled with their interpretations of gumbo, poor boys, beignets and more with dishes named appropriately: Creole Loggerhead Turtle Soup and Death by Gumbo – quail gumbo served with a whole semi-boneless quail stuffed with oysters, andouille sausage and rice. Another example is their Abita Battered Crab beignets with four remoulades. You don’t want to miss this fabulous addition to New Orleans!
