What an exciting cover we’re presenting to you, featuring our beloved New Orleans Ballet Association and BRAVO! Thanks to Chairwoman Charlotte Bollinger, to generous donator Phyllis Taylor, to Chairwoman of the Benefactor Dinner Sheila Davlin and to BRAVO President Debbie Alciatoire. “Mais oui, C’est Marie!” the annual Ballet Ball, will be held at the New Orleans Museum of Art. The events begin with a benefactor dinner on March 18, featuring white glove service and haute cuisine by Muriel’s Jackson Square and then continue with a patron party and gala on March 21, that will add to the French feel with a cabaret by M.I. as well as entertainment by Mathew Scoggin and Dr. Will Robichaux. Thanks to Mardi Gras Productions for allowing us to shoot in front of one of their beautiful creations! The Venetian Backdrop is so apropos for the beautiful theme.
With all of the Carnival events going on around town, don’t forget your sweetie on Valentine’s Day! To that end, check out What’s Hot on pg. 16 for some beautiful and fun ideas!
It is time again for our annual Couture Wedding Guide! This year we’ve gone all out with 11 pages of fashion, tips, accessories and, of course, our resource directory, filled with everything you need to make your special day the most memorable possible.
We also have a new bi-monthly feature for our new St. Charles Avenue – we are so excited to present our second Vintage Wedding! Thanks first to Virginia McIlhenny and now to M.I. and Guy Scoggin, whose wedding took place in 1954.
New Orleans is celebrating many exciting projects and the Mahalia Jackson Theatre is a beautiful renovation of which our city is so proud! How thrilled we are to have Carlos Prieto as conductor extraordinaire to our amazing symphony.
Another celebration near to our hearts was for the debut of Avenue’s new look! Featuring Irvin Mayfield, Jeremy Davenport and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, it was fabulous and raised almost $3,000 for the New Orleans Public Library Foundation! Thanks to all of you!
Another current project that has the whole city buzzing is the historic restoration of the former Fairmont Hotel into the Roosevelt New Orleans. It is a member of the Waldorf=Astoria Collection of Hotels and opens this summer with some of our old favorites: the Sazerac Bar, the Blue Room and the Angel Hair Lobby! New additions will include John Besh’s new restaurant Domenica, Spa Guerlain and lots of great meeting spaces!
Exciting, too, is the growing Tulane Ob/Gyn department. Many of their dedicated physicians have been delivering babies for over 30 years! Two REI specialists have recently joined the team and are continuing Tulane’s mission of delivering some of the best medical care in the city.
If you want to do something for your grandchildren or children, sign them up for a Valentine’s Day present of a trip with the Cottonwood Institute – they may change the world!
