A Party to Die For

Save our Cemeteries held their 22nd All Saints Soiree on October 18, 2008. The night consisted of a lavish dinner and party with auction to honor the unique cemeteries that grace the landscape of Louisiana with their beauty and history.

Decked out in their cocktail best, patrons met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Castellon in Old Metairie. A feast from Bayona Restaurant was served with musical goodies from New Orleans Banjos + 2. The Soiree commenced as guests arrived to nosh on local favorites from Acme Oyster House and Hubig’s Pies among others. Entertainment was fittingly from Johnny Angel & The Swingin’ Demons. Thanks to honorary Chairmen Mr. (posthumously) and Mrs. Frank W. Masson, Soiree Chairmen Heather Knight Moore and Katherine S. Zeringue as well as Patron Party Chairmen Yancey Bewley, Katherine Miller Determan and Ann M. Heslin. The array of auction items was fabulous and even more so the funds raised to benefit the preservation and restoration of the state’s cemeteries. Many desirable items were bunched into packages with clever names like “Relive Your Childhood,” “Dog Days at NOMA” and “For the New Orleans Gentleman.”

The soiree was a triumph.

The passionate team of All Saints organizers and SOC supporters proved on their most festive night of the year that it’s good to be alive (and to have lived) in Louisiana.
