A Royal Engagement

NOWFE kicks off in style.

The 2009 New Orleans Wine and Food Experience and the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel hosted the Pre-Royal Street Stroll Party on May 21, 2009. Wines from Rodney Strong and Davis Bynum were served and Chef Anthony Spizale of the Omni Royal Orleans provided Royal Orleans crab cake sliders with remoulade sauce and micro greens, mini cones of warm potato chips with blue cheese sauce, Chef Anthony’s deviled eggs and cured yellow fin tuna drizzled with honey, horseradish and pink peppercorn.

The New Orleans Wine and Food Experience is a nonprofit organization dedicated to many philanthropic events in and around the city, as well as to bring more people to the French Quarter with its annual Royal Street Stroll. Last year the 2008 stroll received donations of $125,000 to support local charities, programs and foundations. This year the beneficiaries included The University of New Orleans School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism, The Louisiana Restaurant Association’s Pro Start School-to-Career Program, The John Folse Culinary Institute, Delgado Community College School of Culinary Arts, Cancer Crusaders, Girls First, NOCCA’s Culinary Arts Program, Animal Rescue of New Orleans, Coach Sean Payton’s Play It Forward Foundation and Fore!Kids Foundation.

After the Pre-Royal Street Stroll party concluded, guests were able to enjoy the Royal Street Stroll. The annual Stroll brings winemakers and famous chefs together with antiques, art and jazz.
