NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The annual fundraiser benefiting the Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents & Associates (VCPORA) will be a celebration of 85 years of serving and preserving the Vieux Carré. The theme for this grand fete will be a royal masquerade, and costuming and masking are greatly encouraged. The Nov. 16 event will be held at the “purple-rated” historic Latrobe’s at 403 Royal St. and will begin with a patron party from 6-7 p.m. The main event follows from 7-10 p.m.

Renowned musician Mahmoud Chouki will kick off the festivities for the patron party, with the lively Smoking Time Jazz Club to follow. Libations and delicious food will be provided by Latrobe’s chefs. A silent auction will feature a spread of the best local eateries, services and boutique gifts, while the live auction is all about art and excursions. This exciting portion will include pieces by James Michalopoulos, Rodrigo Franzão, a rare 1975 Jazz Fest Poster, along with a coveted stay in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, France. All proceeds will go to supporting the ongoing preservation efforts of VCPORA.
“Last year we played off the hugely successful theme, “Met Gala Inspired.” Because of its overwhelming success and the enthusiasm of our patrons, the gala committee decided that a royal masquerade would be perfect for our 85th anniversary celebration,” said Event Chair Lynda Gladney. “November 16 promises to be a spectacular evening!”
