The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Louisiana Chapter held their Renaissance Festival on November 21, 2008 to gather support for the almost 4,000 people living with the disease in the state. The night was sponsored by Peoples Health. A number of other local chivalrous companies including Renaissance Publishing, LLC titles New Orleans Magazine, New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles and St. Charles Avenue; Ochsner Health System; Friend & Company; and WWL also sponsored.

The stage was set at the Renaissance Arts Hotel for all the Bishops, Courts and Jesters in attendance. Activities included dancing to Bobby Cure & The Summertime Blues, partaking in delightful refreshments and participating in auctions fit for royalty. Temptations included local art, trips and trinkets, plus wining and dining.

Renaissance Festival is the Chapter’s major gala of the year, so it was important that it be a great success. The hundreds of people who attended made sure that it was. Other fundraisers for the Chapter include the MS Walk and MS Bike Ride taking place in the spring and fall, respectively. All are wonderful ways to take an active role in the Society’s quest to “end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.” Funding goes to local and national programs, such as support groups and financial assistance, as well as to international research.
