After a year off, the New Orleans Film Festival asked everyone to “Make a Scene” at its kick-off gala on Oct. 12. And those who made the scene at Rosy’s Jazz Hall had much to grab their attention. Patrons had their own VIP lounge—complete with a bouncer—and got early peeks at the celebrity silent auction featuring film canisters autographed by George Clooney, Anthony Hopkins and others. A jazz trio from NOCCA entertained those VIPs, who also wore film rosette corsages made by Heather Macfarlane and Mark Kirk of UP/Unique Products. The duo also did the venue’s décor. Elsewhere in Rosy’s there was much dining and libations to be had, and music from the Plowboys and Johnny J and the Hitmen hit all the right notes. Upstairs there was a photo booth for guests to commemorate the night. Costume accessories from Jillian Kreiner’s Wardrobe Wenches & LIFT added a bit of movie magic to the photos,
if needed.
The film festival, Oct. 13 to 19, showcased a number of films such as “Babel,” “The Queen” and “Little Children,” and after the showings,
dedicated—and social—movie buffs could go to after-parties at bars
around town. Now, that’s really making the scene.
