Going green never tasted so good! Parkway Partners held their annual Feast with the Stars fête on October 19, 2008, in order to raise much-needed funds and publicity for their eco-friendly cause. A perennial New Orleans fall favorite, this year’s Sunday Jazz Brunch featured live music courtesy of the Storyville Stompers to liven up the atmosphere at Gallier Hall. There were nearly a dozen food stations set up around the room to nourish patrons, with cuisine provided by Bayona, Café Reconcile, Whole Foods Market and Astor Crowne Plaza among others. Old New Orleans Rum, Martin Wine Cellar and the Columns Hotel provided libations for the brunch, which also featured a silent auction. The most coveted pieces of the auction were everyone’s annual favorite: hand-painted birdhouses created by local artists and celebrities.
Mignon Faget created lily pendants and earrings for the charity auction, and the Frederick Guess prints were also among the sought-after items. Event chairperson Stephanie Laborde made sure everyone exited with a commemorative champagne flute, decorated with the Parkview Partners logo. Board members were also in attendance, including Flo Schornstein, Roy Austin, Dessa Rutter and President Kathy Laborde. The event raised plenty of green for Parkway Partners’ green pledge to “ReLeaf New Orleans,” an initiative to replace the arbor canopy decimated by Hurricane Katrina.
